Pitch Perfect Performance – Triple P

The Lisbon MBA Católica|Nova is proud to partner with Sonae and Amrop in Triple P – Pitch Perfect Performance – an initiative that challenges students to pitch themselves in front of a jury panel in order to showcase to its members the reasons why they are the best talent for Sonae.

The Triple P allows our International MBA students to get first-hand visibility within one of the biggest retailers in the country. In the past years, Sonae has recruited around 20 MBA students through Triple P. In order to best prepare their pitch, students participate in lectures led by Sonae’s C-level executives, where they offer a deep dive into the company’s history and strategy, in a Masterclass-style.

Last Tuesday, to kick off this initiative our International MBA students had the pleasure to have Pedro Guerner, Head of Corporate Strategy and Group Controller at SONAE, and Teresa Oliveira, Head of Digital at SONAE, presenting to our students. Pedro Guerner addressed Sonae’s unique business strategy, from food retail to sports retail, financial services, and telecommunications, among others. In all sectors, Sonae has a leading position in Portugal, as well as in Iberia and Brazil for some sectors.

Teresa Oliveira introduced our students to the strategy of the company in the digital area and addressed the evolution of digitalization, showcasing the many possibilities for retail to connect with IoT and provide a smarter, more personalized experience for the consumer, with examples of initiatives that have already been implemented such as the “Continente Labs”, the cashless convenience store, located in central Lisbon, that has shown great success.

The students learned how Sonae’s strategy is focused on the future, namely in digital acceleration and employee reskilling, by using technology and data to evolve the retail business to allow increasing customer autonomy and personalization and increase employee knowledge, efficiency, and safety.

The students’ pitch competition will take place on the 28th of October. Stay connected to our social channels and website for further updates.
