International Lab: From Lisbon to Mexico

The Lisbon MBA International full-time program comprises a 2-month Action Learning Period, where the students can choose from a Summer Project (an MBA-level internship), an International Lab, a real-life consulting project with MBA students from top international business schools, and an Entrepreneurship Hub (where they can work on starting their own business).
This year, three of our International MBA full-time students chose the International Lab for their Action Learning period and went all the way to Mexico to work with Egade Business School MBA students on a consulting project for Sumol+Compal. “It was a great opportunity for us to have the chance to conduct a project in a different country, work alongside the EGADE team, under the guidance of Professors Jorge, Lalo, and the Sumol+Compal team.”, said Lucianna Schneider, student of the 2019 class.
The challenge lies in studying the Mexican market the possibility of Sumol+Compal expanding its business there, which “was a chance to know a new industry and deepen our international experience, getting to know a different country and market.” according to João Ribas, International MBA class 2019.
After 10 days working in Mexico with the Egade team, our students are back in Lisbon to work on developing a Business Strategy and a Business Model. The workgroup will be re-united once again in Lisbon to present their final project to the company, in late August.
The International Lab “is an incredible opportunity to put MBA-learnings to use in a competitive, international setting. It’s also afforded me (us) the opportunity to build our network both within Lisbon and abroad.”, said Alex Elson, International 2019 class student.
