Leadership and team-building training with the Portuguese Navy

As part of The Lisbon MBA International, students participate in several workshops, sessions, and activities, which form the LEAD (Leadership, Exploration, Advancement, and Development).
Within the LEAD component, our Class of 2023 had a 3-day session on leadership and team-building with the Portuguese Navy, a valued partner of The Lisbon MBA Católica|Nova. Facilitated by top navy instructors of the Department for Training in Organizational Behavior (Departamento de Formação em Comportamento Organizacional), at the emblematic “Escola de Fuzileiros, this immersion entails innovative on-field training designed to create an unforgettable experience for our students while enhancing their future performance as leaders, team players, strategists, and problem solvers.
It focuses on three key principles: task fulfillment, group cohesion, and individual development, supported by competencies such as situation clarification, strategy definition, action coordination, and learning facilitation. Additionally, the session incorporates the functional leadership model and the 6W2H (what, why, where, when, who, with, how, how much) model for comprehensive leadership development.
Over its nine centuries of history, the Portuguese Navy has earned recognition for its holistic approach, operational readiness, strategic focus, and ability to adapt and reinvent itself as times change. Achieving this requires a constant commitment to staying updated, thorough preparation, innovation, efficient long-term management, and integrating state-of-the-art knowledge.
