The RRP presents itself as a unique opportunity to take a step forward, and digital investment should be central to its execution. 

 

What do hybrid work, the Recovery and Resiliency Plan (RRP), and the recent breakdown of social networking services have in common? Apparently nothing, but in reality everything.

The relationship between Portuguese companies and telecommuting has been difficult. Its economic, social, and environmental advantages are well known, but the uncertainty of its costs is still high. If in Lisbon there was a high adoption of telework above the European average, in the other regions it was well below. In the summer, the consulting firm PwC published a survey in which 63% of workers said that the company became more productive, but only 26% of employers share the opinion.

 

In an everchanging and rapidly more digital world, in which work is only a button away, one must celebrate the economic and environmental advantages that hybrid working offers. Yet, at what cost do these advantages come? With the ongoing threat of cyberattacks, professional knowledge, time and investment have never been more important to the strengthening of IT infrastructure today. Evoking the question: what role could the resilience and recuperation plan have on the digitalization of companies?
