Professor Filipe Santos awarded for Social Entrepreneurship

Professor Filipe Santos, Dean of Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics and Chair of the European Venture Philanthropy Association, received the Social Innovation Thought Leader 2019 Award from the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship, a world-leading organization for social entrepreneurship, partner of the World Economic Forum.

For more than a decade, Filipe Santos has been working in the dynamization of the social innovation sector, becoming a worldwide reference in the field and now acknowledged in the Sustainable Development Impact Summit, a World Economic Forum event held in New York on September 23rd and 24th.

The Social Innovation Thought Leader award was granted to Filipe Santos for his academic work and promotion of social entrepreneurship and social innovation around the world. The Dean is the first Portuguese to receive this award by the Schwab Foundation, an organization that recognizes the work of social entrepreneurs since 2000. This year, Social innovators from areas like academia, business, and the public sector were awarded.

About this award, Filipe Santos refers: “I have been following the excellent work of the Schwab Foundation over the years so it is an honor to receive this award and a privilege to be part of this community of leaders for social impact in the world. Europe can become the leader in social innovation worldwide and through my work as Dean of CATÓLICA-LISBON and chair of the European Venture Philanthropy Association, I aim to continue contributing to this endeavor.”
