Students from The Lisbon MBA International with representatives of Associação de Tursimo Portugal
Within the Action Learning period of the International MBA Program, nine students presented a consultancy project for the Cascais Tourism Association. This project was developed in the context of the “Role to Play” / Economic 1st Responders initiative launched by the Nova School of Business & Economics (Nova SBE).
“Role to play” is a platform that brings together specialists from the most varied areas to civil society, with the aim of promoting good practices and lasting and sustainable changes with companies and the community to minimize the negative impact of the coronavirus.
Our students, coming from different professional backgrounds, namely in the areas of management, finance, law, engineering and culture, focused their project on the areas of hospitality, culture and business. The team also collaborated with Deloitte, Westmont Institute of Tourism & Hospitality (WITH) and DNA Cascais.
The students proposed several strategies to be implemented by the Cascais Tourism Association, leveraging on the municipality’s strengths and considering all the challenges they face, particularly in the context of the coronavirus crisis.
Cascais Tourism Association recognized that students were able to add valuable insights not only to the Association but also to the local tourism players, contributing to one of the most important sectors of the Portuguese economy. At the same time, this type of collaboration between students and organizations gives students a hands-on learning opportunity and prepares them for real management challenges.
