Joana Santos Silva, Professor at The Lisbon MBA, wrote an opinion article for Público newspaper, where she refers to the importance of health and education in the development of Portugal.

“On the one hand, there is a significant amount of studies that demonstrate the relationship between the level of education and training and the economic productivity and competitive capacity of nations.

On the other hand, education and health are closely linked. More educated individuals have been shown to benefit from better health and healthier habits and behaviors. Education is an essential mechanism to improve population’s health, as it reduces the need for access to care and its costs and improves the quality of life both at the individual and at the population level.”
