Tourism Innovation Competition

International Conference presents winners of the Global Competition and discusses the Future of Tourism

On June 2nd, The Lisbon MBA and Turismo de Portugal have jointly launched a worldwide competition of ideas – the Tourism Innovation Competition – which will reward the most innovative project to a solution on how to measure tourists’ behavior in the countries and/or cities they visit.

The winning idea will receive a prize of 10,000 euros or a scholarship for The Lisbon MBA worth 18,000 euros. The other two finalists will receive 2,000 euros each. The final winner will be announced on a special conference which will be held at Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian (Room 1) in Lisbon on September 18.

With the presence of international guest speakers, this event will present the three finalists in the worldwide competition of ideas to discover the most innovative solution for measuring tourist’s behavior.

The conference will also be an opportunity to discuss the importance of innovation for management. It will feature a discussion panel on “Tourism 2.0: The digital’s role in tourism development and how the industry should adapt to it” that will be moderated by Pedro Oliveira, Academic Director of The Lisbon MBA. Already confirmed are Asaf Zamir, Tel Aviv’s Deputy Mayor,  Marco Gouveia , SEO & Online Marketing Manager at Pestana Group, Nils Fonstad, Research Scientist at MIT CISR and Cesar Christoforidis, Vice President at Socialbakers for Latin America and Southern Europe.

The session will be opened by Daniel Traça, Dean of Nova School of Business and Economics  and João Cotrim Figueiredo, President of Turismo de Portugal and will also count on the presence of Adolfo Mesquita Nunes, Secretary of State of Tourism, and Francisco Veloso, Dean of Católica-Lisbon School of Business and Economics.
